Molybdenum (m ù) is a trace element needed by human body, animals and plants. It's silver white metal, hard and tough. All kinds of tissues of human body contain molybdenum, the total amount in human body is 9mg, and the content in liver and kidney is higher.
Molybdenum is a transition element, which is easy to change its oxidation state and plays a role of electron transfer in redox reaction in vivo. In the form of oxidation, molybdenum is likely to be in the state of + 6. Although it is also likely to revert to + 5 valence during electron transfer. However, other oxidation states of molybdenum have been found in the reduced enzymes. Molybdenum is the component of xanthine oxidase / dehydrogenase, aldehyde oxidase and sulfite oxidase, so it is the trace element needed by human body, animals and plants.
